This first official collaboration between newcomer Tóke and the Reggae Ambassador of Indonesia Ras Muhamad is a social commentary strongly promoting the concept of world citizenship. Provoked by rising trends of nationalism and racism as a result to the devastating ‚refugee crisis‘ „Open The World“ aims to take a stand in the controversy and promote the idea of a „border-free“ world, in the physical as well as in the mental sense. „Open the world“ is the third single release from Tóke’s debut album „Wake up inna Kingston“, that was released in summer 2016.
The half German, half Indonesian reggae singer and songwriter is the hottest newcomer on the German reggae scene, and with his charismatic style and his sensitive voice he gets a lot of support. In early 2015 this love for reggae music brought him to Jamaica for the first time, where he got a lot of positive feedback by local artists like Exile di Brave and got invited to join them on stage. There he managed to convince the Jamaican audience. Radio interviews and more invitations came after that. Ever since he released his debut album with the Italian label Bassplate Records and toured through Germany, Austria, Italy, Indonesia, and Jamaica. Tóke named himself after the gecko from his birth country Indonesia. And likewise he get recognized by his voice.
And this voice got him to be #3 in the category „Best national newcomer“ of the 2015 RIDDIM readers poll – the 2016 readers poll is still to come.
